Simple Tricks for Tree Identification

Illustrated books are a means of recognizing "easy" trees; i.e., those with unusual leaf shapes. However, to learn botanical features that "define" a particular tree, knowledge of twigs, buds, leaf arrangement & other features is required. David Brandenburg highlights key characteristics needed to accurately differentiate one tree from another. By the time attendees leave, they are ready to tackle identification of any tree they encounter throughout woodlands in Ohio.

Anne Raver, longtime garden columnist and writer, will be the featured speaker at our Annual Meeting & Lecture, being held at the BBGs recently opened Education Center for the first time. Anne has spent 30 years in the field, first at Newsday, a Long Island daily, then the New York Times, writing about almost anything that involved plants. She has seen it all, from river farms of the Amazon jungle to cantaloupes ripening on a Queens fire escape. She will share some of these stories and more.

Doors open at noon with seed and plant sales.

NPA members free, non-members $10 at the door.
